Danger Zone Music Group, a label which is known for breaking major acts, is back in the dancehall game. The independent label has inked a recording deal with a new dancehall group, 1Squad, and their new single, ‘Popin Ova Here’ is being heavily rotated on FM radio.
“1Squad is signed to StarStruck, which is a subsidiary of DZMG. The feedback has been great so far to the song, it drop several times on ZIP, Suncity Radio, and RJR94, all the top selectors dem a play it, Danger Zone on the ground, the industry ah welcome another entity that is investing time and energy in the music business,” dancehall artiste Esco, who is the chief executive officer of Starstruck Records, said.
Esco, who is an established artiste and accomplished producer, leads out the 1Squad, which is a combination of five multi-talented artistes, each with their own unique style – V8nam, Popin, Talis and Sultan.
“These young artistes have their own styles, one is the most popular piercer in the Corporate Area, they have their own swagger, their own flow and unique style of dressing that resonates with a younger demographic of dancehall fans. We are going to put Starstruck Records on the map with our new mixtape,” Esco said.
Star Struck Records is a sub label of DZMG which is managed by Esco.
DZMG/ Star Struck Records has released its new mixtape featuring the 1Squad, and a video for the single was released in the first week of March.

In their heyday, DZMG has worked with several legends in the music fraternity, namely Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Capleton, and international producers and artistes such as Timbaland, Busta Rhymes and Sean P Diddy Coombs. The label has also scored hits with several dancehall and reggae riddims locally and internationally.
“With the Danger Zone Sound System as its nucleus, DZMG has, for several years, maintained a presence in the local and international music market, churning out high-quality music.Now, we’re going to be stepping up things,” Feonia Williams, one of principals of the DZMG, said.
