Jamaican up and coming reggae/ hardcore dancehall artiste and composer V8nam, is taking his piece of the pie I the industry with his fresh approach to mainstream music. Armed with a plethora of lyrics, talent and the aptitude to excel, he aims to give listeners a euphoric feel each time they hear his music.
Born Kemoy Nugent, the colorful community of White Hall, Kingston, Jamaica. Kemoy received his formal education at Eltham High School in Spanish Town. It was at high school where he got initial support and encouragement from his peers with regards to pursuing music seriously.
V8nam has had a fairly good life growing up and was blessed to be living opposite to the Legendary Jaro Studio at the time. His yard was no different from a typical dancehall scene as his father owned a sound system called “King Force” each day music and melody from popular artistes and selectors rang out through the ever-vibrant White Hall/ Manning’s Hill communities. Young V8nam would watch the activities with great enthusiasm, while having hopes of one day becoming a musical titan himself.
V8nam found strength in the motivation provided by his friends and family when they realized just how passionate he was about his craft. He then committed himself fully to his music after leaving school.
The young singjay/deejay was introduced to Dutty Fridaze Promotion team owned and operated by Vanclive ‘Fada Bulla’ Paris and his brother Chris Gayle through a mutual friend, which gave him the opportunity to produce his first hit Culu Culu in 2015. The hit single has been playing on all major radio stations locally and internationally.
He continued to work on mastering his craft over the next couple of years. He then soon experienced a small taste of stardom, when an up and coming producer by the name of Jermaine Pitt aka Courage invited him to be a part of his organizations. Street Shellaz Record.
One sleepless night while working on one of his riddims, he started singing along with the track an discovered unique melodies in the keys of the keyboard and in his voice. Courage heard the vocals and encouraged him to-do both, creating riddims and voicing his songs. V8nam went on to compose the kool Shade riddim in 2015 featuring the hit single time by Turbulance along with Anthony Cruz Neva wear Ma Crown. He has also collaborated with Chelsea on his hit single U me Seh.
The young talent, drawing his inspiration from everyday things that happen in his life, has also composed the beats for Kartel’s Won’t Work, produced by Vybz Kartel music in 2018. This was a landmark achievement for his career as his music is heavily influenced by Kartel along with Movado and his father.
V8nam has been singed to danger zone in early 2019 and is currently working on his upcoming track “if a nuh dem alone”. Expect great things from this hit maker producer/ deejay as he creates more magic in 2019 and beyond.
